Basic Black Bean Burgers, fairly easy to make. Very low fat, and packed with protein.

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Black Bean Burgers

16 oz Black Beans
0.5 medium (approx 2-3/4" long, 2-1/2" dia) Peppers, Sweet, Green
0.5 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
3 clove Garlic
1/4 cup AllWhites
1 tbsp Chili Powder
1 oz Cumin
1 oz Louisiana Hot Sauce
1/2 cup Quick Oats

Recipe Directions for Homemade Black Bean Burgers

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and lightly oil a baking sheet. Thoroughly rinse Black Beans and drain. Place Beans in a large bowl and mash with a potato masher or fork until thick and pasty. In a food processor, add the cut green pepper, onions (cut in wedges), along with the garlic and finely chop them. Add onion mixture to the mashed beans. In a small bowl, combine the All Whites, cumin, chili powder, and hot sauce. Stir together well then add to the bean mixture. Using your hands, add the quick oats and mix everything together. Form the mixture into 4 patties and place on lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove, flip over, and bake an additional 10 minutes.
