Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Biscuits

2 cups pastry flour
1/3 cup wheat germ
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 green onions, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons honey
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2/3 cup buttermilk or yogurt that has been whipped with a fork
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Recipe Directions for Homemade Biscuits

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly oil a baking sheet and put aside. In a medium sized bowl, mix together the flour, wheat germ, and baking powder. Next add the green onions and parsley.

  2. 2. Using a butter knife, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture is coarse looking. Use a mixing spoon to make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the honey, buttermilk / yogurt and oil. Stir until combined thoroughly.

  3. 3. Place the dough on the oiled baking sheet. Using a lightly floured rolling pin or a household cup, roll the dough out until its about 1/2 of an inch thick. Then using a biscuit cutter or a cup, cut out the biscuits. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden.
