Ground beef is cheap but high in saturated fats. This recipe reduces fats by rinsing the browned beef before adding the spices, and by eliminating the sour cream. Still good, trust me!

Recipe Ingredients for Homemade Beef Tacos

1 lb. ground beef, browned,drained and rinsed with water
1/2 t. cumin
1/2 t. garlic, minced
1/2 t. beef bouillon granules
1/2 t. chili powder
1/4 c. onion, chopped
1/4 c. water
1/4 t. dried red pepper flakes
8 corn tortillas, warmed in microwave
8 T. cheddar cheese, grated
1 small tomato, chopped
1 c. lettuce, chopped

Recipe Directions for Homemade Beef Tacos

  1. Brown beef and onion in large skillet.

  2. Drain mixture in sieve and rinse with hot water.

  3. Return to skillet, add water and spices and cook for 10 minutes.

  4. Put about 2 T. meat mixture into each tortilla.

  5. Serve with toppings, as desired.
