Recipe Ingredients for His Mama's Hot Sausage Stuffing Dressing

26 cups bread, dry mix cubed
9 cups chicken broth, swanson
2 large onion
8 oz Parmesan Cheese, kraft
1 cup celery
32 oz Sausage, seriously hot Jimmy Dean

Recipe Directions for His Mama's Hot Sausage Stuffing Dressing

  1. Slice onion and saute in water with spices or in a little oil or butter. Spice onions to taste.

  2. Fry up sausage and drain of excess oil.

  3. Can add any other ingredients to taste, such as mushrooms, bell peppers, etc...

  4. Put all dry ingredients, including seasoning packet and/or season to taste in large backing pan open roaster.

  5. Pour liquid over dry ingredients and stir well until moistened as desired. 9 cups makes a pretty moist dressing, and it won't get change if you bake in oven. If in bird, decrease liquid. Moisten to desired consistency. 10 cups makes a beyond moist dressing ;)

  6. Bake 45 mins at 350 or until lightly browned on crouton edges on top.

  7. Note: Can substitute turkey sausage and spice to taste for the regular sausage to lower fat in recipe. Also, can use lower salt or salt free broth. No need to add butter or oil unless that flavor is desired.

  8. Note 2: Can use the Light Parmesan cheese or skip (the cheese adds flavor and acts as a binder. If you skip the cheese, then can use 4 egg whites as a binder instead, beat well and mix into broth before pouring over dry mixed ingredients)
