Brownies made of kidney beans, egg whites, and protein powder for a higher protein dessert. Nuts are added to complete the proteins of the beans, and if whey protein powder is used then all this protein should be super-absorbable. Black beans or any other bean can be used as well!

Recipe Ingredients for Higher-protein kidney bean brownies

15 ounce kidney beans
3 egg whites
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup splenda
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 tablespoon instant coffee
1 pinch salt
4 level scoops
28 g hazelnuts

Recipe Directions for Higher-protein kidney bean brownies

  1. Oven preheated to 350 fahrenheit, 175 celsuis.

  2. Mash or blend the beans and their canning liquid with a blender to a puree.

  3. Chop 20 hazelnuts (should be approximately 28 grams).

  4. Mix all ingredients together and pour into a greased baking pan (8x8 inches).

  5. Bake until the tops and sides are set, about 40 minutes.

  6. Let cool thoroughly before slicing into 16 slices.
