Recipe Ingredients for High Fiber Granola July2010

10 cups oatmeal
1 cup barley
1 cup raisins
1 cup craisins
1 cup flax seeds
16 oz chia seeds
8 oz medjool dates
3 tblsp vanilla
3 cups warm water

Recipe Directions for High Fiber Granola July2010

  1. Combine all ingredients except 1 cup chia seeds, dates, vanilla and water in a very large bowl.

  2. Grind 1 cup chia seeds in a coffee grinder or seed grinder. Remove seeds from dates. Blend chopped dates, vanilla and about 1 cup of warm water in a blender until dates are liquified. Add more water if necessary. Add remaining water and blend till combined. Slowly add in ground chia seeds, blending thoroughly.

  3. Pour date and chia mixture into dry mixture in bowl. Carefully combine until all ingredients are moistened.

  4. Spoon onto dehydrator sheets no more than about 1/2 inch thick. Dry for at least 12 hours at 115 degrees F or until crumbly.

  5. Store in air tight containers in a cool location.
