Make your own--tastes much better than store-bought brands and fills the house with a wonderful aroma! The recipe calls for honey, but only because CC didn't have an option for agave nectar, which I prefer to use, due to its lower glycemic count.

Recipe Ingredients for Heidi's granola

1 3/4 pounds oatmeal
2 cups pecans
1 cup cashews
6 ounces brown sugar
1 1/2 ounces sunflower seeds
1 ounce pumpkin seeds
2 ounces sesame seeds
5 ounces coconut flakes
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
2 dashes vanilla

Recipe Directions for Heidi's granola

  1. Combine combine 8 ingredients in a very large bowl.

  2. Add last three ingredients and stir until dry ingredients are thoroughly coated.

  3. Bake on two large baking sheets in a 350 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes, stirring at least three times, and turning the baking browning.

  4. Keep an eye on the granola as you near the end of the baking time, as it can go from golden brown to burnt very quickly!
