Makes about 7 cups, total. Serving is based on 1/3 up of granola. Serve with good-quality yogurt and fruit, if desired.

Recipe Ingredients for Heidi's granola

4 cups oatmeal
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup canola oil
1 1/2 cups pecans
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
1/3 cup agave syrup
3/4 cup coconut flakes
1 vanilla to taste

Recipe Directions for Heidi's granola

  1. mix together oatmeal, brown sugar, nuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and cocunut flakes. When thoroughly mixed, add a splash of vanilla, the canola oil, and the agave syrup.

  2. Bake on a cookie sheet sprayed with Pam in300-degree oven for approximately 30 minutes, stirring and checking for doneness every 10 minutes. Granola should be lightly toasted. Take care not to let it burn.
