Recipe Ingredients for Heather's Cabbage Rolls

4 heads cabbage
2 yellow squash
2 Squash, Summer, Zucchini, Includes Skin
1 Onion
6 mushrooms
3 Fresh garlic cloves
2 lbs white rice
50 oz Tomato Sauce
3 lbs lean hamburger
1 tbsp sugar

Recipe Directions for Heather's Cabbage Rolls

  1. Cook Rice

  2. Cook Cabbage till pliable, them peal off leaves

  3. Finely chop squash, zucchini, and onion and place in a large bowl and add hamburger and pork

  4. Open the 6 large cans of tomato sauce and put into a separate large bowl.

  5. Using a ladle, mix in the tomato sauce one ladle at a time into the larger bowl that has the squash & meat mixture.

  6. Mix with hands, adding about 3 or 4 more ladles of sauce.

  7. Cover your baking pans with tomato sauce on the bottom of each pan

  8. lay out your cabbage leaves and place a small handful of mixture into the leave(s) and roll them up and fold in the sidet to keep mixture in, and place in pans

  9. Cover all rolls with more tomato sauce

  10. Heat over to 350 and place pans in oven - smaller pans can go on middle shelf and larger pan on bottom shelf.

  11. Cook about 35-45 minute
