Recipe Ingredients for Hearty Tuna Casserole

13 oz. tuna, canned
12 oz. pasta
1/2 c celery, chopped
1/3 c green onions, sliced
2/3 cup cream, sour, reduced-fat, cultured
2 tsp Mustard
1/2 cup Mayonnaise, Hellmann's reduced fat
1/2 tsp thyme leaves, dried
1/2 tsp salt
1 zucchini, sliced
1 cup cheese, Monterey Jack,shredded

Recipe Directions for Hearty Tuna Casserole

  1. Drain and flake the tuna. Set aside.

  2. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse in hot water. Combine noodles with the tuna, celery and green onions.

  3. Blend in the sour cream, mustard, mahyonnaise, thyme and salt.

  4. Spoon half the mixture into a buttered 2 quart caserole. Top with half the zucchini. Repeat layers. Top with the cheese.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

  6. Sprinkle with chopped tomato if desired

  7. TIPS: You may substitute canned salmon for the tuna. You may add some chopped fresh parsley, dill, basil or chives to the casserole.
