Main dish meal my family loves. Also a better alternative than canned versions as it is made with milk not cream.

Recipe Ingredients for Hearty Potato Ham Chowder

4 russet potatoes
1 T butter
1/4 c green onions
2 cups water
1 t salt
1/8 t white pepper
1/4 t paprika
3 T flour
1/3 cup cold water
2 c 2% milk
12 oz whole kernel corn, undrained
2 cups ham, diced & cooked
1 T parsley

Recipe Directions for Hearty Potato Ham Chowder

  1. Peel and dice potatoes into small cubes.

  2. Melt butter in saucepan, add onion and cook until tender, but not brown.

  3. Add potatoes, 2 cups water (enough to cover potatoes) and seasonings.

  4. Cover and simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until potatoes are cooked but firm.

  5. Make paste of flour and 1/3 cup cold water ( I sometimes make a thicker paste with more flour.)

  6. Blend paste into potato mixture and stir until thickened.

  7. Stir in corn and ham and heat through.

  8. Sprinkle with parsley
