Recipe Ingredients for Heart Healthy Salmon Burger Patties

16 ounce canned salmon, drained and flaked
1/2 cup eggbeaters
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 pinch red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
2 cloves minced garlic

Recipe Directions for Heart Healthy Salmon Burger Patties

  1. Drain salmon and reserve juice. In a medium bowl, flake salmon into small bits. Mix, flaked salmon, eggbeaters (egg whites can also be used) Old Bay Seasoning, parsley, onion, breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. If you find the mixture to be too dry, add some of the reserved juice. Form into 6 balls, then press firmly packinto patties, about 1/2 inch thick (for best results, refridgerate for an hour).

  2. Heat half the oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add half of the minced garlic. Cook for about 10 seconds before adding 3 of the patties. Cook about 4 minutes and check to ensure under side is browned, Spray the tops just before flipping over to continue cooking until this side is also browned. Repeat for the remaining patties.
