A healthy, lower sugar, lower fat brownie treat!

Recipe Ingredients for Healthy Walnut Brownies

1/2 cups oats
1/2 cups wheat germ
1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup splenda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tbs olive oil
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1 large egg
3 large egg whites
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tbs honey
1 tsp vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Healthy Walnut Brownies

  1. Preheat an oven to 180C and line a brownie tray with non-stick paper.

  2. Whip the egg whites until firm. Set aside.

  3. Mix together the oats, wheat germ, cocoa, flour, walnuts, splenda, baking powder and baking soda.

  4. In a seperate bowl, beat together the whole egg, honey and oil.

  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well.

  6. Fold through the egg whites carefully.

  7. Scoop into tray and bake for ~25-30 minutes
