A new version of spaghetti sauce from scratch. No spinach in this one.

Recipe Ingredients for Healthy Spaghetti sauce from scratch 2

27 grams olive oil
1 1/4 lb 99% fat free ground turkey
1 cup red wine
59 ounces Beefsteak Tomato
1 red onion
1 yellow onion
1 bell pepper
24 ounces mushrooms
4 tbsp garlic
3 tbsp,+crumbled bay leaf
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp italian seasoning

Recipe Directions for Healthy Spaghetti sauce from scratch 2

  1. The total yeild after cooking was about 10 cups. I've set the portion size at 2 cups. If you choose to have one cup, enter it as .5 cups.

  2. Meat is browned separately from sauce.

  3. To brown meat.

  4. Place ground turkey in skillet. Add 1tbsp itialian seasoning, 1 tsp salt, and 2 tbsp garlic. Cook until meat is browned.

  5. To make sauce:

  6. Chop onions

  7. Chop bell peppers

  8. Crush 2 tbsp garlic

  9. Get 10 large beefsteak tomatoes. Boil water in a pot large enough to hold the tomatoes. Have a bowl of icewater close to the pot. Boil the tomatoes 5 at a time for 1-2 minutes. Remove from boiling water with a large cooking spoon and place immediately in ice water. Leave them there for a minute or so. Then remove to a bowl. Repeat with remaining tomatoes. Remove seeds from all tomatoes. Chop two tomatoes and set them aside. Puree remaining 8 tomatoes in a blender.

  10. Heat olive oil In a large pot. Add onions, bell peppers and garlic. Cook until slightly browned. About 3 minutes. Add pureed tomato, 2 tbsp italian seasoning, celery salt bay leaves, mushrooms, and remaining chopped tomatoes. Bring to boil and simmer about 4 hours.
