What are some healthy snacks for the beach?
Asked by katiegnorth on Jul 17, 2010 in Nutrition

I'm heading on vacation and am hoping to load up on healthy snacks to bring to the beach that I don't need a refrigerator. I'm the only one in my family who eats healthy, so I need to supply my own food in this regard.

Consider these good snacks for the beach that even fussy eaters may like:

  • Dried food:  Nuts, dried fruit, cereal, crackers, pretzels, jerky, nut butters
  • Water, juice and yogurt in single servings, frozen.  As they thaw in the cooler, other foods will stay cold.
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables:  Wash and pack delicates in a container; others go in a baggy; melons are cut at the beach.
  • Sandwiches: Pack separately and assemble at the beach, crusty bread, fresh tomato, low fat cheese spread, peanut butter, jam.
