Recipe Ingredients for Healthy Pineapple Bun

1 cup 1% milk
2 cups Whole-grain Wheat Flour
1 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons applesauce
2 teaspoons yeast

Recipe Directions for Healthy Pineapple Bun

  1. Put milk and sugar in a microwave proof bowl and microwave on high for about 15 seconds, or until the mixture is warm to touch, but not too hot.

  2. Pour heated milk and sugar mixture into a big bowl and sprinkle two teaspoons of yeast on top and mix thoroughly until all the yeast granules are dissovled.

  3. Let mixture stand for ten minutes for yeast to activate.

  4. Mix together flour, saltin a separate bowl.

  5. When 10 minutes has passed, pour applesauce into wet mixture and beat in dry mixture a few tablespoons at a time until dough begins to pull away from the bowl.

  6. Dump dough onto lightly floured counter and knead for about 10-15 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.

  7. Put dough ball into a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and place in a warm spot and let rise for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until dough has doubled in size.

  8. When dough has doubled, punch the air out of the dough and lightly knead on clean surface.

  9. Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  10. Shape small mounds of dough into 18 balls about one inch apart on prepared baking sheet and return to warm spot to rise for another 45 minutes to 1 hour.
