Healthy Twist on Green Bean Casserole

Recipe Ingredients for Healthy Green Bean Casserole

8.75 cup French Style Green Beans
2 cup Cream of Mushroom Soup
0.5 cup Fat Free Ricotta Cheese
0.8 large Onions
1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
1 large Egg, White
13 g Wheat Germ

Recipe Directions for Healthy Green Bean Casserole

  1. Put 1/4cup breadcrumbs on tray in the oven and bake until a little crispy

  2. meanwhile, slice your large onion into lots of thin circular slices then chop in half to look like half moons

  3. Use 2 tsps olive oil on skillet with onions to brown them

  4. Take browned crumbs out of oven and mix in a bowl with the 2tbsp Wheat Germ

  5. Coat the browned, sliced onions in your one egg white and toss them around in the breadcrumb mixture - If you don't think they're crispy enough throw them on the skillet this way for a bit longer!

  6. Drain the cans of french style green beans - you don't want a water-y casserole! I estimated each can to have about 1.75 cups of green beans in it so this recipe should use about 5 cans.

  7. Mix the strained french cut green beans with 2 cups Healthy Choice Cream of Mushroom Soup (it really matters which brand you pick - they're not all created equal!) and some Fat Free Ricotta Cheese - yum!

  8. Spread The greenbean mixture in a shallow baking dish and top with your breaded onions - bake this at 425 degrees for 15-25minutes until browned on top and bubbling.

  9. Serve! and enjoy :)
