Banana bread doesn't get much healthier than this while retaining a delicious taste and a soft, moist texture!

Recipe Ingredients for Healthy Banana Bread

1 3/4 cups whole-wheat flour
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 large egg
3 Bananas
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup skim milk
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Recipe Directions for Healthy Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray 8x4-inch loaf pan with non-stick spray.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. Stir in chopped nuts.

  3. In a separate bowl, mash bananas; add egg, vanilla, applesauce, honey, and milk and stir well. Pour onto flour mixture and stir gently just until blended (don't overmix or it might result in a tough bread),

  4. Scrape dough into prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean--50-60 minutes. Cool before slicing.
