Cut the meat to stretch a buck, and save on bad stuff. Add veggies to stretch that same buck, and increase good stuff.

Recipe Ingredients for Hamburgers

1 carrot, chopped
1/4 c onion, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/8 c pepper, green, chopped
1 T olive oil
1/3 pound ground beef, 93% lean
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Recipe Directions for Hamburgers

  1. To a small skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and saute all the veggies for about 5 minutes, to make them sweet. Stir often. Turn off the heat and set aside to cool.

  2. In a bowl combine the ground beef, cooled veggies, and spices, mixing by hand. Form into 3 patties.

  3. Cook in a skillet, or on a BBQ grill, over medium-high heat until the juices run clear, or a meat thermometer reaches at least 165 degrees.

  4. Serve on buns, or tortilla shells, or in pita pockets with your favorite burger toppings.
