Hearty tomato-based soup with lean hamburger and veggies

Recipe Ingredients for Hamburger Soup

1 1/2 pounds hamburger
14 mushrooms, fresh
1 tomato
24 ounces canned tomatoes
21 ounces condensed tomato soup
2 cups corn
2 cups peas
1 onion
2 cups water

Recipe Directions for Hamburger Soup

  1. Brown lean hamburger with onions. Drain fat.

  2. Add in mushrooms, tomatoes, peans and corn.

  3. Combine with remaining ingredients either in a large pot or a slow cooker.

  4. Add spices if so desired (I use cayenne, black pepper and basil)

  5. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a slow simmer on low heat. Stir often.

  6. Is ready to eat within 30-60 minutes, but is much better if left to simmer for a few hours. The slow cooker on low for about four hours gives it a nice, well-rounded flavour.

  7. You can put pretty much any veggie in you like.
