Eat your heart out Betty Crocker, this is yummy. Low fat/low sodium soup and cheez whiz may be substituted.

Recipe Ingredients for Hamburger Helped

1 lb lean ground beef
1 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp curry powder
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
1 medium carrot, grated
10 oz mushrooms, sliced
10 oz mushroom soup, condensed
1/2 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup cheez whiz
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 large red bell pepper
2 cups uncooked dry rotini

Recipe Directions for Hamburger Helped

  1. Season ground beef with black pepper, cayenne pepper and curry powder.

  2. Crumble and brown ground beef in olive oil in a large deep skillet over medium heat.

  3. Add garlic, onion, carrot and mushrooms to skillet and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes stirring frequently until onions start to turn transparent and mushrooms are just cooked.

  4. Stir in mushroom soup, milk, cheez whiz and parmesan cheese.

  5. Continue to heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and starts to bubble.

  6. Stir in bell pepper, reduce heat and simmer lightly while pasta cooks.

  7. Prepare pasta according to package directions omitting salt.

  8. Drain cooked pasta and stir into hamburger mixture.

  9. Enjoy!
