Recipe Ingredients for Ham & Split Pea Soup

120 g bacon, (8 slices)
1/2 onion, medium, sliced
1 cup carrot, chopped
1 lb split peas
16 oz chicken stock
2 cups water
1 cup ham, cubed
3/5 1 bay leaf bay leaf
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp pepper, ground
2 tbsp light sour cream
2 1/10 3 servings Southwest Chipotle Salt-Free Seasoning Blend

Recipe Directions for Ham & Split Pea Soup

  1. In a large dutch oven cook the bacon over moderate heat, stirring until crisp. Transfer to paper towel to drain

  2. Leave rendered bacon fat in pot and cook the omion and carrots until translucent and soft.

  3. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. Simmer uncovered. stirring occasionaly for two hours. Add more water if soup is to thick, It should be thin.

  4. Discard bay leaf and serve warm topped with crumbled bacon
