Recipe Ingredients for Ham Hash

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed (cooked or raw)
3 cups cooked ham, chopped
2 tablespoons chili sauce
2 tablespoons broth or water

Recipe Directions for Ham Hash

  1. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat.

  2. Add chopped onion.

  3. Cook, stirring, until beginning to soften, about 3 to 5 minutes.

  4. Add potatoes. If potatoes are cooked, toss to coat with oil. If raw, cook, stirring frequently, until about half tender, 5 to 7 minutes.

  5. Add the ham. (Can also be made with beef.) Cook, stirring until both the meat and potatoes are browned. About 5 to 7 minutes.

  6. Stir in the chili sauce, mixed with 2 tablespoons of broth or water (or ketchup with water, or beef or chicken broth).

  7. Turn heat down to medium. Cook, stirring frequently, until all the ingredients are browned, 5 to 10 minutes.
