Recipe Ingredients for Ham and Cheese Strata

5 slices whole wheat bread
8 eggs
2 ounces mozzarella cheese
2 ounces cheddar cheese
1 tsp butter
1/4 cup ham
3/4 tsp salt
3 1/2 cups low-fat milk

Recipe Directions for Ham and Cheese Strata

  1. Grease a 9x13 pan with butter.

  2. Mix together eggs and milk. Grate cheese.

  3. Layer in pan: sliced bread, then sprinkle grated cheese, then sliced bread, then sprinkle grated cheese, then ham, then pour milk mixture over the top, then finish with more cheese.

  4. Bake immediately or cover and refrigerate overnight.

  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until top cheese is lightly brown.
