I use a variety of beans in this recipe since we don't care much for all kidney beans. You could use lean ham instead of regular ham to lower the fat content.

Recipe Ingredients for Ham and Beans

15 oz. kidney beans, rinsed and drained
15 oz. black beans, rinsed and drained
15 oz. pinto beans, rinsed and drained
2 cups diced fully cooked ham
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 dashes hot pepper sauce

Recipe Directions for Ham and Beans

Mix all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
