Recipe Ingredients for ham and bean soup

1 lb great northern beans
2 ham hocks
1 onion
3/4 cup celery, chopped
3/4 cup carrots, chopped
15 oz can diced tomatoes
1 cup tomato juice, low soduim
5 cups water
2 tbsp Worchestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1/2 t chili powder
1 lemon, juiced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Recipe Directions for ham and bean soup

  1. place beans in saucepan. Boil 2 minutes, let set 1 hour. Drain and rinse.

  2. Cover beans with fresh water and cook in sauce pan 30 minutes uncovered. Drain again. Discard water.

  3. Combine beans with remaining ingredients in a slow cooker.

  4. Cover and cook on low 9-11 hours.

  5. Remove bay leaf and ham bone before serving. Return any left over meat to crock.
