my variation of vegwebs outrageously easy big bread (link included)

Recipe Ingredients for half bread recipe, nutrition info for 4 servings

2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tbs yeast
2 tsp salt
1 cup lowfat plain yogurt
1 tsp baking powder

Recipe Directions for half bread recipe, nutrition info for 4 servings

  1. put yeast in 1/4 cup warm water to proof. mix half the flour with the baking powder (the yogurt affects the yeast and the baking powder fixes that). heat the yogurt to almost hot in the microwave, stir in the honey and salt till dissolved, then stir the yogurt mixture into the 1st half of the flour. pour the yeast & water over this, then the oil, then the 2nd half of the flour. mix well with wooden spoon; you may have to use your hands. let rise for 45 mins.

  2. after 1st rise knead a few minutes, then shape (i like to make 2 baguettes) and leave to rise another 45 minutes. then bake for 25 to 35 minutes at 325.
