This is a traditional Swiss cake. It's not meant to be too sweet and is best enjoyed with a cup of coffee.

Recipe Ingredients for Gugelhopf Cake

1.5 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
1 tsp Baking Powder
0.5 cup Sugars, Granulated
0.5 tsp Salt, Table
0.5 cup Milk, Fluid, 3.25% Milkfat
0.25 cup Butter
1 fruit (2-1/8" dia) Lemons
2 large Egg, White
0.5 cup, slivered Almonds

Recipe Directions for Gugelhopf Cake

  1. Soften butter, add eggs and sugar, stir until creamy.

  2. Sift dry ingredients and fold in. Add lemon and nuts; add milk. Pour into pan, bake at 350 farenheit for 30-40 minutes.

  3. Remove from oven and cool.
