Hearty, warming, winter comfort food! This is a mildly spiced chili that satisfies the hunger without breaking the calorie bank for the day. It is a great dish to heat for lunch at work or to sit and watch Monday night football with.

Recipe Ingredients for Ground Turkey Chili

16 oz ground turkey breast
2 1/2 cups pinto beans, cooked
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic, minced
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
3 carrots, grated
15 oz diced tomatoes
15 oz tomato sauce
2 bell peppers, chopped
1 tsp olive oil

Recipe Directions for Ground Turkey Chili

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot spreading to cover the bottom. Add onion and cook until almost tender.

  2. Add turkey, garlic, carrots, cumin and chili powder. Saute until meat is lightly browned.

  3. Add pinto beans. Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Bring pot to a slow simmer. Simmer for 45 minutes until flavors have blended stirring occasionally to keep from sticking or burning. Should be a thick stew-like consistency.

  4. Add bell peppers and cook to desired doneness. I like mine just warmed so they are still crisp to bite.
