Gyros style ground lamb made at home with tzatziki sauce

Recipe Ingredients for Ground Gyros Platter

10 ounce frozen spinach
2 pounds ground lamb
2 tablespoons grill seasoning
2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin, divided
1 tablespoon chili powder, a palm full
1 tablespoon coriander, a palm full
1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/3 palm full
2 pinches ground cinnamon
1 cup feta crumbles
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
8 oz Greek yogurt
1 clove garlic, grated
1/4 cucumber, peeled and grated
1 lemon, juiced
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
8 pita breads

Recipe Directions for Ground Gyros Platter

  1. Preheat oven to 425.

  2. Defrost spinach in microwave.

  3. Place lamb in bowl, add grill seasoning, 2 teaspoons cumin, chili powder, coriander, oregano, cinnamon, and feta cheese. Wring the spinach dry using kitchen or paper towels. Add spinach to bowl and mix thoroughly. Form meat into two long rolls on a baking sheet. About 2 inch diameter for each roll.

  4. Bake in oven approximately 20 minutes until fully cooked.

  5. Mix yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, cucumber, and 1/2 teaspoon cumin.

  6. Heat pitas under broil to soften them. Assemble sandwiches with meat and sauce, top with tomatoes, or any other preferred sandwich toppings.
