Recipe Ingredients for Grilled Tofu Steaks with Hoisin Sauce

14 oz Organic Tofu, Extra Firm
0.33 cup Ketchup
3 tbsp Hoisin Sauce
1.5 tbsp Soy Sauce
1.5 tbsp Brown Rice Vinegar, Organic
4.5 tsp Garlic
4.5 tsp Ginger Root
0.062 cup, sliced Peppers, Jalapeno
1.5 tbsp Peanut Oil, Unrefined
1/4 tsp Kosher Salt

Recipe Directions for Grilled Tofu Steaks with Hoisin Sauce

  1. Place tofu on paper towels; cover will paper towels. Top with heavy skillet; let stand 20 minutes. Cut tofu crosswise into 8 (1/2 inch thick) slices.

  2. Combine ketchup and next 6 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cook until reduced to 1 cup (12 minutes), stirring occasionally. Set aside 1/2 cup.

  3. Preheat grill to medium high heat.

  4. Brush oil over tofu; sprinkle with salt.

  5. Place tofu on grill coated with cooking spray; grill 3 minutes. Turn tofu over, and brush with 2 tbsp sauce, grill 3 minutes. Turn tofu over again and brush with 2 tbsp sauce; grill for 1 minute on each side.

  6. Top with reserved sauce.
