low cal version should be same with pine nuts or pecans instead of walnuts. Hmmm, agave nector with pine nuts instead of brown sugar and maybe maple with the walnuts?

Recipe Ingredients for green chile- apple crisp

4 medium apple(s), McIntosh, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup green chiles
1/3 cup uncooked old fashioned oats
2 tbsp reduced-calorie margarine, melted
5 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp brown sugar

Recipe Directions for green chile- apple crisp

  1. Filling

  2. combine 1/4 cup of sugar, apples, walnuts, green chiles, cinnamon and cornstarch in a large bowl

  3. add in the apple slices and toss to coat

  4. spray oil on 8x8 pan, add mixture

  5. Topping

  6. mix 2 tablespoons of sugar, melted margarine, 5 tablespoons of flour, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts and oats in a small bowl

  7. scatter topping over filling mixture

  8. preheat oven to 350

  9. Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until crumbly topping is golden brown in color and apples are tender. Cool for at least a half hour before serving. Serves 9.
