Instead of ground beef, try ground lamb for more authenticity. Serve this burger with a Greek side salad. Instead of hamburger buns, try using pita bread. No condiments necessary, but tzatziki would be delicious! (Use nonfat Greek yogurt.)

Recipe Ingredients for Greek Burgers

3 oz finely crumbled feta cheese
2 tbsp oregano
1 cup fresh baby spinach, chiffonade
2 egg whites
1 bell pepper, roasted and chopped
1/4 cup Kalamata olives, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp mint, finely chopped
1 small red onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup skim milk
1/8 cup bread crumbs
1 lb lean ground beef (95/5)

Recipe Directions for Greek Burgers

  1. Combine all ingredients except for meat. Mixed thoroughly. Add meat to combine. Do not overwork meat.

  2. Divide into half, and each half into thirds. It is important to make burgers close to the same size so that they cook properly.

  3. Use whatever burger cooking method you feel comfortable with.
