Easy to prepare spiced shrimp dish

Recipe Ingredients for Greek Baked Shrimp

1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tblsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground allspice
28 ounce diced tomatoes, in juice
1 pinch of sugar
1 1/4 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
2 tblsp chopped dill

Recipe Directions for Greek Baked Shrimp

  1. Preheat oven to 325 with rack in the middle.

  2. Cook onion and garlic in oil with 1/4 tsp salt in a 4-quart heavy saucepan over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in spices and cook, stirring 30 seconds.

  4. Add chopped tomatoes with juice and sugar and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat.

  5. Add shrimp to tomato sauce. Transfer to a 2-quart shallow baking dish and top with feta. Bake until just cooked through, 18 to 20 minutes. Serve sprinkled with fresh dill.
