Get your day and your year off to a great start with these sweet and salty bars that are packed with the nutrition you and your kids need. These are much lower in sugar and salt than the usual granola or energy bars, and have a good dose of healthy fiber.

Recipe Ingredients for Great Start Granola Bars

2 (cups g) mini marshmallows
1/4 cup 37% Light Buttery Spread
1 1/2 tablespoons agave syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup rice krispies cereal
2 tbs Sunflower Seeds
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1/4 cup raisins
2 tbs miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Great Start Granola Bars

  1. Lightly spray a 8 x 8-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, combine cereal, oats, nuts, seeds and raisins.

  3. Combine marshmallows, butter, and agave syrup in large saucepan. Coat your spatula with cooking spray, and use it to stir the mixture as you heat it over medium heat.

  4. When the mixture reaches a boiling point, immediately remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla until well combined.

  5. Pour over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Coat your spatula again, and use it to mix to combine.

  6. Mix in mini chocolate chips (if using) work fast the mixture hardens quickly.

  7. Use the spatula to transfer the mixture into prepared baking dish, pushing it evenly down into the pan.

  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until set. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
