Makes 4 servings



Add 12 Simek's meatballs (135 cal per 3 meatball serving) and 8oz (dry weight) cooked egg noodles (220 cal per 2 oz dry weight serving). NOT healthy but a treat that we sometimes have to figure into our calories.

Recipe Ingredients for gravy for swedish meatballs

2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons olive oil
5 tablespoons flour
1 small onion
1 salt, to taste
1 pepper, to taste
1 garlic powder, to taste
1 beef bouillon cube
3 oz half and half
1 1/2 c water

Recipe Directions for gravy for swedish meatballs

  1. Saute onion in oil and butter till tender. Add flour and stir roux till lightly browned.

  2. Heat water in the microwave and dissolve bouillon cube. Slowly add broth to roux, stirring constantly to ensure smooth texture.

  3. Add salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste.

  4. You may add meatballs at this time. If you do, cover and simmer over med-low heat for 15 minutes, or until meatballs are hot all the way through.

  5. Serve over cooked noodles.
