Granola using oats, with sunflower seeds

Recipe Ingredients for Granola I

2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp canola oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Granola I

  1. Preheat oven to 325

  2. In large bowl, mix all dry ingredients (can add other nuts in addition if want)

  3. In small bowl mix brown sugar, water, oil and extract (in place of brown sugar & oil can use honey or maple syrup)

  4. Add liquid mix to dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. The liquid will be absorbed and granola will become darker & shinier.

  5. Spread granola in shalow baking pan. Bake at 325 for 10 minutes. Use spatula to turn over granola. Put back in oven for another 10 minutes or until fairly dry & starting to brown. Remove from oven (& stir in 3/4 cup of dried fruit or raisins).

  6. It will become crispier & crunchier as it cools.

  7. Store in airtight container & use within 2 weeks or Freeze.
