Mix and match this easy granola by changing the nuts, dried fruits, and spices to your taste.

Recipe Ingredients for Granola

6 cups oats
3/4 cup sunflower seeds
3/4 cup honey
1/4 cup oil
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp vanilla
1/2 cup hazelnuts
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp cinnamon
132 g dried mango
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Granola

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together except for the dried fruit and chocolate chips (which are optional and may be left out of the recipe entirely or may be substituted with cinnamon baking chips). Set the dried fruit and chocolate chips aside for later.

  2. In another bowl, mix the honey (or maple syrup, or a thick syrup made with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2-3 tbsp water), oil, and vanilla together.

  3. Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. The liquids will be absorbed and the granola will become darker and shinier.

  4. Spread the granola in a shallow baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until fairly dry and starting to brown. Stir every 10 minutes while it is baking to keep the granola on the bottom from burning.

  5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before adding dried fruit and chocolate chips

  6. TIPS: (1) granola will become crispier and crunchier as it cools. (2) Because of the oil, granola will not stay fresh long. Store in an airtight container and use within two weeks. It will last for 6+ months in the freezer.
