This creamy turnip mash takes Thanksgiving potatoes with gravy to the next level by adding Mr. Potatoes' cousin to the mix. Definitely a much anticipated family favorite.

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma's Turnip and Potato Mash

5 cup, cubes(156 g) Turnips
2.5 potato medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia) Potatoes, White, Flesh And Skin
0.5 cup Milk, Nonfat, Fluid
0.13 cup Milk, Nonfat, Fluid
8.33 tbsp Unsalted Butter
10.5 grams Sugar Pure Cane

Recipe Directions for Grandma's Turnip and Potato Mash

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  2. Place turnip and potatoes in a large pot with enough water to cover, and bring to a boil.

  3. Cook 25 to 30 minutes, until tender. Remove from heat, and drain.

  4. Mix milk, 2 tablespoons butter, and sugar with the turnip and potatoes.

  5. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Mash until slightly lumpy.

  7. Transfer turnip mixture to a small baking dish.

  8. Dot with remaining butter.

  9. Cover loosely, and bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven.

  10. Remove cover, and continue baking about 8 minutes, until lightly browned.
