A simple steamed cabbage recipe. A nice and healthy, low calorie side dish.

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma's Simple Steamed Cabbage

1 cabbage head
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 pinch sugar
1 pinch seasoning salt
1 pinch pepper

Recipe Directions for Grandma's Simple Steamed Cabbage

  1. Heat the oil in a pot, add the pepper and salt to release the flavor. Add 1/4 cup water to the pot and cover with a lid quickly. Lower the heat to medium low heat.

  2. Simply take one whole, fresh and crisp cabbage head, cut it into large bit sizes.

  3. Add the cabbage chunks into the steamy pot, stir and cover. Let it cook. For crisp cabbage, cook only 3-5 minutes, or only slightly wilted. For softer cabbage, cook 6-8 minutes.

  4. If the cabbage begins to turn a pink or red color, you cooked it too long. It can still be eaten, but won't taste as good.
