Grandma's Mexican Rice Recipe

Sauteed rice, onions, & garlic simmered with cilantro and tomato and salt until done

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma's Mexican Rice

1 cup white rice
4 cups water
1/2 onion
1/2 tomato
1/2 cup cilantro
4 cloves garlic
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 salt

Recipe Directions for Grandma's Mexican Rice

  1. Sautee diced onions and minced garlic in 1/2 tbsp oil until golden and tender

  2. Removed from pan

  3. Sautee white rice in 1 1/2 tbsp oil in same pan used for onions and garlic until over 50% are golden brown

  4. Add onions and garlic to rice

  5. Add water, chopped cilantro and tomato, and salt to taste

  6. Bring to a boil

  7. Cover and simmer until water is gone
