I always use my own fresh tomatos in this sauce! Go to your local Farmer's Market and ask for "softee" tomatoes they will be at a discount and are the BEST for this marinara sauce!

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma's Marinara sauce!

26 7/10 oz Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
14 1/2 oz Petite Diced Tomatoes
4 clove Garlic
3 1/5 oz Onion Red
5 leaves Basil, Fresh
2 oz Wine, Table, Red
2 tbsp Spread
0.13 tsp Sea Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper, Black
1/2 tsp Pasta Seasoning
1 tsp Pure Cane Sugar

Recipe Directions for Grandma's Marinara sauce!

  1. boil a big pot of water on the stove and have a bowl of ice water ready

  2. slice "x" into the bottom of each tomato

  3. place tomatoes in boiling water until you see skin start to peel away from tomato

  4. immediately submerge tomatoes in ice water to stop cooking process

  5. once they are cool enough to handle simply peel away the skin and dice up

  6. chop onion and basil

  7. mince garlic

  8. add everything to crockpot and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours

  9. if sauce is too thick add another can of diced tomatoes if sauce is too thin add some tomato paste

  10. season to taste, we like things spicy so we add red pepper flakes but this is a great base sauce for you to add anything *(meat, veggies, spicy etc.)
