Grandma Miller?s Caramel Oatmeal Chewy Bars

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma Miller?s Caramel Oatmeal Chewy Bars

1 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 c oatmeal, quick oats
3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c smart balance, melted
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
14 oz caramels, 50
1/2 c evaporated milk

Recipe Directions for Grandma Miller?s Caramel Oatmeal Chewy Bars

  1. Combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and butter. Set 1 cup of combined mixture aside.

  2. Press remaining onto bottom of greased 9 x 13 baking pan.

  3. Bake in 350 over for 10-12 min

  4. While baking, melt unwrapped caramels and evap. milk together.

  5. After crust is cooled for 10 minutes, spread chocolate ships evenly over crust.

  6. Drizzle caramel mixture over chocolate chips to inch from pan edges.

  7. Sprinkle remaining mix on top and bake 18-22 minutes.

  8. Cool to set approx. 1 hour.
