My grandma's home made brown beans.

Recipe Ingredients for Grandma Annis' Brown Beans

3 c great northern beans
1 t salt
1 t pepper
1/2 t dry mustard
1 onion
1/4 c butter
2 T brown sugar
1/4 c molasses
1/4 c ketchup

Recipe Directions for Grandma Annis' Brown Beans

  1. soak beans in 8 c water overnight or 8 hours.

  2. drain and rinse beans.

  3. parboil in about 6 c water until skin blows away, about 20 min.

  4. add salt, pepper, mustard, onion, butter or bacon, sugar, molasses and ketchup.

  5. cook at least 4 hrs on medium-low stovetop adding water when necessary.

  6. 1 Serving is 8 oz or about 150 grams.
