Recipe Ingredients for Gramps Beef Stew

2 lbs Stew Beef
8 oz of beef broth
16 oz of tomatoes
1/2 red onion
2 potatoes, cubed
4 carrots, sliced

Recipe Directions for Gramps Beef Stew

  1. Dredge meat in flour and seasoning (salt and pepper) and brown it.

  2. Add beef broth and water and simmer for a couple of hours.

  3. Add canned tomatoes, onions, potatoes and carrots. Let it simmer in the crock pot all day.

  4. Thicken at the end with a roux (2-3 TBSP flour mixed with water to make a paste), then take some of the roux and add about 1 cup of broth from stew. Mix well.

  5. Stir into stew and cook 15-30 min until thick.
