Recipe Ingredients for Graham Crackers

1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups white flour
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp honey
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Graham Crackers

  1. combine shortening, sugar, honey and vanillla; blend with an electric

  2. in another bowl, sift together dry ingredients

  3. add dry ingred to shortening as for pie crust.

  4. Add water - will form a moderately stiff dough

  5. Roll paper thin (1/16th inch) - directly onto baking sheet with wax paper over. Remove wax paper, score into 4"x 2 3/4" pieces. Prick each 8 x with a toothpick.

  6. Bake 22-24 mn at 300F. Turn once to bake evenly. Cwill double when baked.
