A well received recipe that blends whole wheat and all purposes flours.

Recipe Ingredients for Good Old Fashion Pancakes

1/3 cup unbleached whole wheat flour (leveled)
2/3 cup all-purpose flour (leveled)
2 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/6 cup 1% milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (natural)

Recipe Directions for Good Old Fashion Pancakes

  1. In small bowl, mix all dry ingredients together.

  2. In medium bowl, mix all wet ingredients together with a whisk.

  3. Prepare griddle surface - if nonstick, no oils or sprays are needed. Heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. Once griddle is at temp, whisk dry mix into wet mix - stop once incorporated. Minimize time ingredients are mixed, do not mix early.

  5. Pour onto griddle and cook until bubbles appear and outer edge of pancake looks firm. Take spatula and flip to cook second side (approx 2-3 min per side).

  6. Serve immediately.

  7. If needing to keep warm, set warming at 200 degrees Fahrenheit and separate pancakes by a clean towel to maintain fluffiness.

  8. One serving = 1 pancake for this recipe.

  9. If using all whole wheat flour, add additional 1/2 tablespoon sugar. If using all all-purpose flour, can reduce baking power to 2 teaspoons.
