Recipe Ingredients for Gluten free pie crust

12 T. vegetable shortening
8 T. butter
3 t. cider vinegar
2 eggs
2 T. cold water
1/4 t. baking powder
2 c. rice flour (I use Gluten Free Pantry pie crust mix but that didn't give a full caloric analysis so substituted rice flour for th

Recipe Directions for Gluten free pie crust

  1. cut in butter and shortening into pastry mix

  2. beat eggs

  3. add vinegar and water to eggs

  4. add liquids to mix & butter

  5. form into a ball

  6. chill for one hour wrapped in plastic wrap

  7. cut dough into halves

  8. re-refrigerate or freeze one half for later

  9. cut second half into 2 equal pieced roll out first half between plastic wrap (it will be super sticky)

  10. place in a 9" pie shell,

  11. roll out remaining dough 9" round

  12. fill crust with whatever type of pie you're making

  13. Place second dough on top or cut to make lattice

  14. Bake according to pie recipe.
