Recipe Ingredients for Gita's waffles

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup flax seeds
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sugar
6 whole eggs
1 ounce butter
16 ounces lowfat buttermilk
1/3 cup blueberries

Recipe Directions for Gita's waffles

  1. Preheat waffle iron.

  2. whisk together the flours, ground almonds and ground flaxseeds, soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  3. In another bowl beat together eggs and melted butter, and then add thebuttermilk.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until combined. Allow to rest for 5 minutes.

  5. Ladle the recommended amount of waffle batter onto the iron. Close iron top and cook until the waffle is

  6. golden on both sides and is easily removed from iron. Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200 degree F oven until ready to serve.
