Recipe Ingredients for Gingerbread

3/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. dark molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. boiling water

Recipe Directions for Gingerbread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9-1/2 inch baking pan. In mixing bowl cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Stir in molasses. Into another mixing bowl, twice sift together dry ingredients. Stir into egg mixture. Stir in water. Turn batter into pan. Bake in pre-heated oven for 30 to 40 minutes. If cut into 15 squares, servings are generous.
